We really enjoyed our visit and this was greatly enhanced because we were part of Beverley's group when she did a tour
There is a lot of very interesting information and history within the castle walls

We visited Bolsover Castle again, always an interesting place for the family. This time we went on the February half term event where the children and adults could all take part in a very funny sword fighting event plus try on pieces of armour and clothing. There was also a very informative, humorous history talk (involving the children) on the Kings of England. Both sessions were brilliant and run by an experienced 'down to earth' historian.

Really interesting place to visit. Beverley our guide was really knowledgeable and helpful. Much more to see inside than you first think. Nice cafe as well.

Not much parking even in the overflow car park, so visit early. There is a nice cafe at the entrance and toilets. A complimentary audio guide is available (we only found out at the end - wasn't told on entry) and free guide tours (though they never showed up when we waited). There is a QR code when you go into the little castle that links to a video that explains about the art works in the rooms. There's not a lot to see, especially if you have kids. Luckily there's a children's play area to help entertain.

Decided to have dinner before we went into the castle in the cafe. We waited 25 minutes in a queue the cafe was so disorganised it wasnt really busy. (I felt sorry for the people working there they were trying the best)
Got to the front of the queue to order and there was half an hour wait for some wedges !! Limited menu no sandwiches no chocolate bars £4.50 for a sausage roll !!
Castle isn't as good as it looks. Poorly staged, no information in the rooms :(
Paid £60 not worth it xx
